Storage conditions for nystatin

The storage of nystatin is a complex matter. According to a communication from the APB, the moisture content of the raw material can fall outside of specifications when stored in the refrigerator. As a solution, it was therefore proposed to store the product outside of the refrigerator.

However, it has been found that the stability of nystatin, based on specific product data, can only be guaranteed when stored in the refrigerator. It appears that the APB did not fully take this aspect of the stability data into account in their previous recommendation.

In the future, manufacturers will provide their products with clear indications of storage conditions that correspond to the substantiated stability. When the instruction 'store cool' is stated on the raw material, this instruction must be strictly followed. If 'room temperature' is mentioned, the product can be stored at that temperature. Requirements may vary by manufacturer and by batch.
